In Texas, massive, multi-million-dollar churches are nothing new. But when the price tag on a new worship center hits near the $20 million mark, it not only raises spirits but also a few eyebrows along the way.
Lake Church at Horseshoe Bay is currently under construction in Llano County, an hour outside of Austin. It will add nearly 30,000 square feet of worship space to the small resort town, where the world-famous Horseshoe Bay Resort golf course and yacht club are located.
According to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, work on the $19 million, 29,490-square-foot property first began in June of 2025. Though the church officially celebrated a groundbreaking in February of 2026 and filings are subject to change…
