Police used Taser on suspect who threatened officers with a hatchet on city’s East Side

SAN ANTONIO — After threatening San Antonio police officers with a hatchet on the city’s East Side, authorities subdued him with a taser and arrested him.

The incident occurred Saturday morning around 8:29 a.m. near SE Loop 410 and Rigsby Avenue. According to SAPD, officers were dispatched to reports of a suspicious male armed with a knife. Upon arrival, they observed the suspect striking a crosswalk signal with a hatchet.

Officers repeated orders for the man to drop the weapon, but the man instead made aggressive movements toward them. SAPD maintained distance before deploying a Taser to gain compliance…
