Mass. men admit to role in bank fraud conspiracy involving stolen identities

Two Massachusetts men pleaded guilty to criminal charges in federal court in Boston for their role in a multi-million-dollar scheme to defraud banks across New England, prosecutors announced Friday.

Victor Kolawole, 26, of Brockton, and Keith Wainaina, 24, of Lowell, each pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bank fraud, bank fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering. Sentencing for Kolawole is set for July 23, while Wainaina will be sentenced on Sept. 9, U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts Leah Foley’s office said.
