INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis has hundreds of properties on the short-term rental registry, but a rental home where a deadly shooting happened on Sunday is not on it (as of April).
The rental home on North Park Avenue was where a post-prom party shooting killed a woman and injured three others. By law, the City of Indianapolis requires rental properties to be on the registry.
“When an unfortunate incident like this happens, IMPD can contact the property owner, let them know what happened,” said Dawn Olsen, Indianapolis Department of Business and Neighborhood Services chief communications officer. “If they are not on the registry, IMPD can contact us and we can contact the property owner to let them know about the ordinance. You know, we want to give them that opportunity to come into compliance.”…
