Kensington G Street Turns Killing Ground In Deadly 1 A.m. Ambush

Overnight gunfire in Philadelphia’s Kensington neighborhood left a man in his 30s dead early Monday, after a burst of shots turned a quiet block into a homicide scene just before 1 a.m., police said.

What police say

According to homicide detectives, the victim, described as being in his 30s, was shot on the 3100 block of G Street, then ran toward Kensington Avenue and East Clearfield Street, where he collapsed. He was taken to a nearby hospital and later pronounced dead, as reported by 6abc. Officials said the call for the shooting came in just before 1 a.m.

Scene and evidence

At the scene, officers recovered at least 15 spent shell casings and found a vehicle that had been struck by gunfire. Police said the victim had been shot in the back and torso, according to NBC10 Philadelphia. Investigators told the station they are looking into whether the killing is connected to another incident near G and Potter streets.
