HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — A Madison County circuit court judge has scheduled a hearing for May 12 on the City of Huntsville’s request to permanently close 708 Bar & Grille, a Poplar Avenue establishment the City contends is a public nuisance and persistent zoning violator.
Circuit Judge Ruth Ann Hall set the noon hearing after the City filed a motion for summary judgment, asking the court to rule in its favor without a full trial. The City argues undisputed evidence shows the bar has been the site of repeated gun violence, drug activity and code violations.
Huntsville police responded to shootings at the address on May 5, 2024; Aug. 2, 2024; and March 10, 2025.
