A judge granted a seven-week delay in a 17-year-old’s murder trial Monday despite an objection from the victim’s family about how slowly the case is moving.
Defense lawyers for Michael Silvera, who is charged with the Jan. 4, 2025, shooting death of Jaidon Mangus, 18, told Judge Dean Mandros in Lucas County Common Pleas Court they needed more time to prepare their case because they were preoccupied for most of April with a three-week trial in a different courtroom.
