Brookfield Motocross Prodigy, 17, Killed In Practice Run Crash

A 17-year-old motocross standout was killed in a crash at a Brookfield practice track last Tuesday, a loss that has sent shockwaves through New England’s tight-knit racing community. Brookfield Police Chief Michael Blanchard confirmed the rider’s death, and local organizers identified him as 17-year-old Granville native Alex Mechachonis, according to Boston 25 News. The collision happened during a practice session at the track, and emergency crews from the West Brookfield Rescue Squad and Brookfield Fire responded to the scene, where they treated Mechachonis before he was airlifted to a hospital, the Telegram & Gazette reported.
