Storms packing 50-60 mph winds hit Metro Detroit, cause minimal damage

Thunderstorms packing wind gusts of 50-60 miles per hour knocked down trees, tree branches and some power lines Monday night.

A gust of 61 mph was reported at the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club, while a 51 mph gust was recorded at Lake St. Clair Metropark, according to the National Weather Service.
