PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — To commemorate 250 years of Rhode Island independence, the Old State House reopened to the public Monday.
On May 4, 1776, the Ocean State became the first of the 13 colonies to sever legal ties with King George III.
Following nearly two years of restoration work, the building on Benefit Street is once again welcoming visitors just in time to mark the historic milestone.
