North Royalton police chief defends himself against accusations of retaliation against fired patrolman

NORTH ROYALTON, Ohio – Police Chief Keith Tarase said he did not alter the report of the drunk-driving arrest of Patrick O’Callahan, the former Orange Village deputy chief, as he has been accused.

Tarase – in his first public comments about the Oct. 11 arrest and subsequent investigations – said he only removed a felony charge against O’Callahan from the charging document at the direction of North Royalton city Prosecutor James McDonnell.

Tarase also criticized the arresting officer, Patrolman Spencer Lowe, for writing an unclear report of the arrest that he said didn’t match bodycam and dashcam videos…
