Plea offer rejected in Muscle Car Murder case

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A plea offer was rejected in the case of three men accused of stealing a Dodge Hellcat that belonged to a woman who was fatally shot after tracking down the car through an Apple AirTag.

The accused shooter, David Tyrone Thompson, rejected a deal that would have required him to plead no contest to second-degree murder for a prison term of 15 years to life, plus enter no contest pleas to other charges that would have added a few more years.

Thompson, 21, instead has decided to proceed with a preliminary hearing that will determine whether there’s sufficient evidence for him to face trial on charges of first-degree murder, carjacking and taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent…
