Iowa apartment fire leaves 60 without homes, cause under investigation

DES MOINES, Iowa- A fire on Des Moines’ south side Monday afternoon left dozens of residents displaced and caused extensive damage to a three-story apartment building.

The American Red Cross said it is providing care and comfort to roughly 60 people who are without a place to call home. Firefighters said it will likely be days before displaced tenants might be able to return to collect anything salvageable.
