Local Workshops Boost Awareness Of Housing Rights On Buffalo’s East Side

One thing I’ve learned living and working in Buffalo is this, too many people don’t fully understand their rights as tenants until something goes wrong.

Recently, local organizations have been using Fair Housing Month, which is April, to educate Buffalo residents about tenant protections, housing discrimination, and what landlords legally can and cannot do. According to Housing Opportunities Made Equal, both federal and New York State laws prohibit discrimination based on race, disability, family status, religion, sexual orientation, source of income, and several other categories.
