Seven Missouri Cities Under Tornado Emergency as Severe Weather Threatens Region

Seven cities in Missouri have been placed under a tornado emergency following reports of a potentially destructive tornado near Bude and Meadville. The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed that Monticello, New Hebron, and Silver Creek are also included in the emergency, which remained in effect until 9:00 p.m. Meanwhile, Oma, Wanilla, Arm, and Oak Vale were placed under a tornado watch.

All affected cities are located within Franklin County, according to Fox Weather. This severe weather event comes just days after a deadly tornado in Texas caused two fatalities and extensive damage to a community.

In North Texas, emergency responders continue their efforts after at least two tornadoes struck over the weekend, leaving around 20 families displaced due to major damage to homes. Wise County Judge J.D.

Clark reported that crews are working to clear debris despite challenges posed by blocked roads and downed utilities. Medical aid is being provided where necessary.

The NWS confirmed that an EF-2 tornado with peak winds of 135 mph hit the Runaway Bay area, while an EF-1 tornado with 105 mph winds was recorded in Springtown. Meteorologist Patricia Sanchez noted that the supercell responsible moved through the region around 10 p.m. Saturday, traveling southeast from Wichita Falls near the Oklahoma border and passing just west of Fort Worth.

Tragically, one person was killed in Parker County near Springtown, as confirmed by Parker County ESD #1 Assistant Fire Chief David Pruitt. Another fatality was reported in neighboring Wise County, with six others treated for injuries. Judge Clark expressed condolences, acknowledging the community’s heavy toll from the storm.

Power outages are widespread, adding to the difficulties faced by residents as the storm’s impact continues to unfold.

The National Weather Service has issued an additional tornado watch for Northwest Arkansas and 14 counties in Oklahoma. Large portions of Kansas remained under a severe tornado warning until 11 p.m., underscoring the ongoing threat across the region.
