CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — A barge that has been abandoned since 2021 is set to be removed from Wappoo Cut on Thursday morning, according to the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.
Officials state that crews will be working to remove the derelict vessel following years of coordination and environmental response efforts involving state and federal partners.
The approximately 60 foot barge has reportedly been abandoned near the incredibly busy Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway off James Island for several years.
