Brightline Denied: FEC says it won’t approve a passenger station in Stuart

STUART, Fla. (CBS12) — New developments emerged on Tuesday in the ongoing debate over a proposed Brightline train station in Stuart, after a newly revealed letter appears to contradict years of public discussion surrounding the project.

The letter, sent by Florida East Coast Railway to Stuart Mayor Campbell Rich, states the company does not approve or support a passenger station in the city and has already denied Brightline’s request. Florida East Coast Railway, which owns the rail corridor Brightline uses, says the proposed station would pose operational and regulatory problems.
