2 men injured after overnight chase ends in crash on I-37, Crosstown Expressway

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Two men were seriously injured early Wednesday morning after a vehicle fleeing deputies crashed near Interstate 37 and Highway 286, according to Nueces County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy David Cook.

Chief Cook said deputies were patrolling the downtown area around 12:36 a.m. and patrolling the old courthouse, a routine nightly check for trespassers, when they spotted a vehicle doing donuts on Chaparral St. near Palo Alto St.

Deputies attempted a traffic stop for the violation, but the driver sped away onto the northbound I-37 at a high rate of speed, Chief Cook said…
