Ribbon Cut Wednesday Afternoon for the Grand Opening of Rebuilding the Malone Community Center

LINCOLN–(KFOR/News Release May 6)–A special ribbon cutting was held Wednesday afternoon to celebrate the grand opening of the brand new Clyde Malone Community Center off of 22nd and “U” Street.

The event capped a two-year process of reconstructing the Malone Center into a 54,000 square foot three-story facility, which includes program spaces for education, STEM learning, leadership development, maternal wellness and other health services. There is also a high school-sized gym for youth athletics and community events, flexible classrooms, computer labs and collaborative meeting spaces, plus a commercial kitchen to support daily programming and community gatherings.

The $23.6 million campaign was made possible through the leadership and generosity of foundations, corporations, and individual donors across the community. Major supporters include the Abel Foundation | NEBCO, Inc., Acklie Charitable Foundation, Assurity Life Foundation, Duncan Aviation Family Trust, D F Dillon Foundation, Lozier Foundation, The Sherwood Foundation, and many other donors whose commitment made this vision possible.
