HONOLULU (KHON2) — A new successor has been named for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Honolulu.
On Wednesday, Pope Leo XIV accepted the resignation of current Bishop Larry Silva and appointed Reverend Michael Castori, S.J, as the sixth Bishop of Honolulu.
Bishop Silva submitted his resignation on his 75th birthday in August 2024, in alignment with the policy that diocesan bishops need to resign upon turning 75.
