GREEN — A busy corridor in the City of Green will receive a whole new look, which city officials hope will improve safety and ease congestion.
The $16.4 million project, which is 80% federally funded, focuses on South Arlington Road from Boettler Road to September Drive, and Boettler Road from South Arlington Road to Kenway Boulevard. The stretch of South Arlington Road currently consists of two lanes of traffic with one in each direction and turn lanes at Boettler Road, along with turn lanes at Southwood Drive.
According to the plans, South Arlington Road will be widened to four total lanes — two in each direction; left turn lanes for northbound motorists will be added at Opal Drive and September Drive; a roundabout will be constructed at the South Arlington and Boettler roads intersection; and a roundabout will be built at the South Arlington Road and Southwood Drive intersection. A center median with trees and wildflowers will be constructed along South Arlington Road in the project area, which will restrict left turns.
