Wasco man awarded by City Council for completing 2026 Boston Marathon

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A man was awarded a certificate of recognition at the Wasco City Council meeting Tuesday for representing the city of Wasco at the 130th Boston Marathon.

Luis Diaz, 34, qualified to run in the Boston Marathon that took place April 20 and completed the marathon in roughly 2 hours and 54 minutes, according to city officials.

Diaz was the only runner from Wasco at the marathon this year, according to city officials. He ranked 3,810th out of the total 29,035 participants and 2,710th out of 5,722 runners in his age division.

This was also Diaz’s first time competing in the Boston Marathon, city officials said. His next goal is to qualify for the Berlin Marathon.
