Mayor Jerry Dyer honors late parents in emotional State of City in Downtown Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KGPE) – Fresno’s Mayor Jerry Dyer gave his State of the City address to a sold-out crowd in Downtown Fresno on Wednesday.

The speech, which was an opportunity for the mayor to lay out his accomplishments over the past year, was given the day after his mother passed away.

“I want to take a moment to acknowledge something very important,” said Fresno Chamber OF Commerce President Scott Miller. “Yesterday, Mayor Dyer’s beloved mother Anna passed away less than two months after his father Donald.”

The mayor himself dedicated Wednesday’s State of the City address to his parents as he delivered a heartfelt speech highlighting major accomplishments over the past year.
