City of Huntsville asks for summary judgement in case against owner of former apartment building

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The City of Huntsville is asking a Madison County Judge for a default judgment and a demolition order in its case against the owner of a former apartment building on Golf Road.

In a filing on Tuesday, the city asked the court for a default judgment against Lurin Real Estate Holdings, which owns the former Serenity Apartments on Golf Road. In its motion, the city also asked the court to place a permanent injunction on Lurin, requiring it to demolish the buildings.

Neighbor pushes for access to more storm shelters

In its motion, the city said that Lurin has not responded to its complaint, saying the property is a public nuisance, despite several opportunities to do so.
