Officials honor local girl who ran into burning home to save brothers

RICHMOND HILL, Ga. (WSAV) — Richmond Hill’s mayor and city council honored a 12-year-old girl for her bravery during a house fire Tuesday night.

Macy Johnson was coming home from school when she noticed smoke coming from her family home’s garage on March 30. Officials said Johnson didn’t hesitate, instead she ran inside shouting, “Get out! The house is on fire!”

The 12-year-old was able to alert her two brothers of the fire. Both brothers were unaware of the fire, with one sleeping in a bedroom directly above the fire while the other was in the shower…
