Locally, most Spokanites know that the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture (MAC) is a hotbed of educational exhibits, Native American history, fun children’s programming and exciting gallery shows. However, the museum is now being recognized on a much larger scale. Over the past 18 months, MAC Executive Director Wes Jessup and a dedicated team have been working to reaccredit the museum through the American Alliance of Museums (AAM). At a press conference on Monday, May 4, Jessup announced that the MAC has earned unconditional reaccreditation through the AAM, a distinction held by only 1,100 of more than 30,000 museums across the United States.
