Pedestrian struck, killed on Airport Rd.; driver facing charges

A New Castle man is facing charges in connection with a collision that killed a pedestrian on Airport Road this week.

Delaware State Police said a 60-year-old New Castle man was walking northbound on Airport Road near East Edinburgh Drive at about 12;20 a.m. when he was hit by a vehicle that was also going northbound. The driver did not stop.

Teddy Huff Jr. died at the scene, according to police.

Troopers were able to identify the vehicle, which was found damaged in the back yard of the driver’s residence. State Police said 28-year-old Cole Burgess was taken into custody during a traffic stop for an unrelated traffic violation, during which he was also found to be in possession of a concealed handgun…
