Ex-bookkeeper for Alamo Heights architecture firm pleads guilty in $1M embezzlement

A San Antonio-area bookkeeper charged with embezzling more than $1 million from an Alamo Heights architecture firm has entered a guilty plea.

Sarah Jean Lingle, who was indicted in late 2023 on five counts of wire fraud and four counts of filing false tax returns, pleaded guilty to a single count of wire fraud. Prosecutors have agreed to dismiss the remaining charges as part of the plea deal.

She faces up to 20 years in prison and has agreed to pay slightly more than $1 million in restitution. Her sentencing is set for Aug. 5 before U.S. District Judge Xavier Rodriguez…
