Semi-autonomous mobility Corvette driven by Sam Schmidt up for sale

INDIANAPOLIS — Mecum Auctions returns to the Indiana State Fairgrounds May 8-16 for the 39th Original Spring Classic, with about 2,500 classic and collector cars up for sale.

Perhaps the most unique hot rod in this sale is a 2014 Semi-Autonomous Mobility-modified Corvette in which Sam Schmidt made history. Schmidt is paralyzed from the neck down from an INDYCAR crash in 2000.

Back in May 2014, Schmidt got behind the wheel of the SAM Corvette and raced at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway without ever turning the wheel with his hands or pushing the accelerator or brake pedal with his foot…
