Lafayette Parish vehicle fire spreads to home; neighbor alerts family to escape safely

LAFAYETTE PARISH, La. (NEWS 15) — A vehicle fire in Lafayette Parish near Scott spread to a nearby home early Friday morning, forcing a family of four to rush out the door after a neighbor noticed the flames and alerted them, according to the Scott Fire Department.

Fire Chief Chad Sonnier reported firefighters responded to Brothers Road near Woodrich Lane on Friday, May 8, just before 12:30 a.m., after receiving reports of a vehicle fire next to a home.

He explained fire crews arrived to find a car engulfed in flames that had already spread to the home. After confirming everyone had safely gotten out of the home, crews were able to quickly contain the flames before they could spread to other parts of the home…
