Piedmont Medical Center Debuts New Level III NICU in Fort Mill

Officials from Piedmont Medical Center, the Town of Fort Mill, and the York County Chamber of Commerce gathered Thursday morning to celebrate the ribbon-cutting of a new Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The facility is scheduled to officially open to patients on May 12.

The expansion marks a significant milestone for healthcare in York County, allowing the hospital to provide advanced support for premature infants and those born with congenital anomalies or respiratory challenges. Previously, families requiring this level of specialized intervention often had to seek care outside the community, resulting in difficult separations during critical periods. The new unit enables local families to remain together while receiving high-level medical attention.
