Your Columbus Boulevard Shortcut Is About to Disappear

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Overnight drivers near Penn’s Landing and Center City Philadelphia should prepare for major detours next week as PennDOT shuts down part of Columbus Boulevard for construction tied to the massive I-95 CAP project.

Columbus Boulevard will be closed in both directions overnight between Spruce Street and Callowhill Street while crews install large structural beams above the roadway as part of the ongoing interstate cover project.

Northbound drivers will be detoured using Spruce Street, 5th Street, and Race Street to reconnect with Columbus Boulevard. Southbound motorists will be directed to use Callowhill Street, 6th Street, Pine Street, Front Street, and Spruce Street around the closure zone.

Signs will be posted along the detour routes, and access to the Hilton Hotel and the Seaport Museum at Penn’s Landing will remain open throughout the work…
