Southern California residents near Redlands woke up to an unsettling start to their this morning, the second seismic jolt to shake the community in just days.
A 3.3-magnitude earthquake struck just before 6 a.m. today, rattling communities in and around Redlands in San Bernardino County. It was the second time in the same week that the area was rocked by seismic activity, coming just days after a pair of quakes hit Wednesday morning in the same general zone. No injuries have been reported from any of the events.
What happened this morning
The U.S. Geological Survey placed the epicenter of today’s earthquake about 4.3 miles southwest of Redlands, at a depth of roughly 2.5 miles. The quake struck around 5:53 a.m. and was felt across a wide stretch of the region. According to USGS mapping, communities including Riverside, Corona, Ontario, Yucaipa, Perris and Lake Elsinore were all within the range of the shaking.
