Capital Region mobile home park company at center of lawsuit alleging fraud

Hoffman Homes, a mobile home park company that operates 16 communities across Saratoga, Fulton and Albany counties, is at the center of a lawsuit filed in federal court alleging several companies engaged in a business arrangement that boosted revenues at the expense of tenants.

The class action civil lawsuit, filed May 1 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York on behalf of Hoffman Homes tenants, alleges the companies violated multiple laws and engaged in fraud, negligence and false advertising through the arrangement, leaving tenants with more than $5,000,000 in losses.

The alleged arrangement

Three financial institutions headquartered out of state, 21st Mortgage Corporation, Triad Financial Services and Credit Human Federal Credit Union; two national mobile home manufacturers, Champion Homes and Cavco Industries; local mobile home installer Northeast Homes Specialists and mobile home park owner Hoffman Homes are each being sued for their alleged involvement in the business arrangement.
