Henderson Police, neighboring agencies boost boat training

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – The Henderson Police Department (HPD) has announced it recently spent time on the water for specialized boat training alongside authorities from the Evansville Police Department, Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office and Indiana Department of Natural Resources.

HPD notes with the addition of a new vessel to the fleet from Evansville Police and the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, this joint training is intended to help the agencies better prepare to handle criminal incident response, recoveries and search operations by sharing resources. There are also critical infrastructure checks involved, and this is to protect “high-priority structures” and to assist with normal patrols.

A spokesperson for HPD says, “We know boaters take care of themselves on the water, but we want everyone to know we will be out there to help those experienced and/or nonexperience boaters on the water.”
