(WHTM) — Three local teachers are among 12 finalists for Pennsylvania’s 2027 Teacher of the Year award.
Aliza Becker, from the Penn Manor School District in Lancaster County; Kerrie Becker, from the Conrwall-Lebanon School District in Lebanon County; and John Marc Murphy, from the Dover Area School District in York County, were all named finalists for the award this week by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
“The true impact of a great teacher is in the confidence they build, the curiosity they spark, and the resilience they help students realize,” said Pennsylvania Secretary of Education Carrie Rowe. “These 12 finalists represent the very best in teaching. They create classrooms where students feel seen, challenged, and supported, and where learning is connected to real opportunities for the future.
