Several departments fight wild blaze in Lubbock County

LUBBOCK COUNTY, Texas — A grass fire turned structure fire is currently being battled by multiple local fire departments in Southeast Lubbock County, which left one person with injuries.

According to the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office, a grass fire was reported around FM 400 and County Road 7300, just north of Slaton, at 2:36 p.m. The blaze then hit a nearby camper, which upgraded it to a structure fire. LCSO said the fire started after someone was burning trash and lost control of the burn.

One person has sustained injuries, including possible third-degree burns, according to the sheriff’s office. They have been transported to UMC for treatment.
