Alabamian makes history as first woman to win 250-mile ultramarathon

Dr. Rachel Entrekin, a Birmingham native and graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, not only won the women’s division of the annual Cocodona 250-mile ultramarathon in Arizona, she won overall at a record-setting time.

Entrekin, 34, who went to Bob Jones High School in Madison, Ala., finished the race in 56 hours, 9 minutes and 48 seconds, which is an average of 13 minutes per mile, according to an article by USA Today.
