LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — A gas leak at a Tyson Foods facility prompted an evacuation and a multi-county response for a gas leak Friday afternoon, according to a Facebook post from Garden Spot Fire and Rescue.
Units were dispatched shortly before 1 p.m. to the plant after reports of a gas leak inside the building. Contractors working to repair a sinkhole beneath the structure inadvertently ignited a small blue flame in the excavated ground, leading to the immediate evacuation of the building.
Fire crews arrived and coordinated with plant safety staff, facilities personnel and representatives from UGI to determine the source of the leak.
