Pittsburgh gets $78M to upgrade water and sewer systems in these city neighborhoods

Nearly $78 million in new funding from PENNVEST will help accelerate upgrades to Pittsburgh’s drinking water and sewer systems, continuing efforts to replace aging infrastructure and remove lead service lines across 12 city neighborhoods, according to Pittsburgh Water.

The funding will support water main improvements, lead service line replacements, and sewer rehabilitation projects designed to reduce the risk of service disruptions while improving water quality for residents.

“Investments like these are critical to keeping Pittsburgh moving forward,” Mayor Corey O’Connor said in a statement. “By upgrading infrastructure and removing lead service lines, we’re improving quality of life for families and residents today while building a stronger, more reliable system for the future.”…
