Giving blood can seem abstract. You go to a center or a local blood drive and spend maybe an hour from start to finish, filling out a form, having it reviewed, having a tech draw a pint of your blood, and then walking over to the post-donation area for some fig newtons and juice. After that, the blood is taken … somewhere. You know it’s going to help someone, but there’s a gap between your donation and the person you are helping…
