NASCAR has a long history in Illinois, even way back in the day, there was a race at Soldier Field, but now racing is leaving Chicago for a new old home in the Land of Lincoln.
NASCAR Has A New Home For Racing In The State Of Illinois
I have to admit, I really didn’t know much about racing until I moved to Rockford. I watched the Indianapolis 500 most years with my dad, and that was it. I started going to Rockford Speedway, which started me into NASCAR. Of course, Dale is the man. My first experience with the big dogs was at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet. I went on a bus trip, and we had a blast.
According to WGN TV Chicago…
For the first time in seven years, NASCAR is returning to the Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet.
Unfortunately, NASACR left Chicagoland Speedway after the 2019 season. A couple of years ago, I drove by the massive track. It was so sad to see it pretty much abandoned. I had heard rumors that they were going to sell the property and make it something else. Good thing they didn’t. After a couple of years trying to run a street race in Chicago, NASCAR is back in Joliet.
