Suspects from Lancaster, Dayton identified in string of Fairfield County church burglaries

LANCASTER, Ohio (WCMH) — A Fairfield County grand jury has indicted two suspects in connection with a string of church burglaries that sparked a weeks-long investigation.

According to the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were alerted to multiple incidents of reported break-ins at various churches between March 29 and April 12. See the latest stories from NBC4 in the video player above.

The first break-in in March resulted in several stolen electronics. Three additional churches were also burglarized, resulting in other electronics and musical instruments being stolen.

The fourth reported burglary occurred at the New Hope Church in Lancaster, where video surveillance shows the suspects inside the building and a vehicle near the scene. The video evidence led investigators to William Whitehead, of Dayton, as the primary suspect…
