NBC Unveils Bold New Lineup for Its 100th Anniversary, Cancels Several Shows

As NBC approaches its centennial milestone, the network is shaking up its programming with a fresh slate of series set to debut in 2026. At the annual Upfront presentation held on May 11 at New York’s Radio City Music Hall, NBCUniversal revealed plans to introduce nine new shows while discontinuing a number of existing programs to make room for its revamped lineup.

Among the notable cancellations are the Law & Order spinoff Law & Order: Organized Crime, the medical drama Brilliant Minds led by Zachary Quinto, and the cheerleading mockumentary Stumble. Additionally, several talk shows and newsmagazine programs, including The Kelly Clarkson Show, Access Hollywood, Karamo, The Steve Wilkos Show, and the cooking competition Yes, Chef!, were also cut, with the latter ending after just one season due to low ratings.

Despite these changes, some fan favorites have secured renewals. The Rise and Fall of Reggie Dinkins, Love Island USA, SNL UK, Real Housewives of Rhode Island, and the One Chicago franchise-which includes Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago P.D.-will return.

The Emmy-winning Alan Cumming will host the civilian season of The Traitors this year, followed by a star-studded season in early 2027. Meanwhile, the fate of The Hunting Party remains uncertain as it has yet to be renewed or canceled.

In the reality TV realm, Bravo’s Andy Cohen announced the cast for The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Roaring 20th, a special 20th anniversary season featuring stars from across the franchise. The season premieres August 9, 2026.

NBC’s nine new scripted series highlight the network’s ambitious vision for the future. Dig, based on Kate Myers’ 2023 novel Excavations, is currently in production and marks a collaboration between Parks and Recreation creator Michael Schur and star Amy Poehler, alongside Hugh Laurie. Another highly anticipated drama, The Good Daughter, starring Oscar nominee Rose Byrne and Megan Fahey, is scheduled for a November 12, 2026 premiere.

Horror fans can look forward to Crystal Lake, an A24-produced Friday the 13th prequel series starring Linda Cardellini as Jason Voorhees’ mother, set to debut on October 15. Other notable premieres include The Five Star Weekend, featuring a star-studded cast led by Jennifer Garner and Gemma Chan, which will premiere July 9, and Sunset PI, a workplace comedy from Brooklyn Nine-Nine producers starring Keith David, slated for fall.

Additionally, NBC has greenlit Newlyweds, a sitcom exploring later-in-life romance with Téa Leoni, Tim Daly, and Jamie Lee Curtis. Two new police dramas, Line of Fire-about a law enforcement family targeted by a mysterious killer starring Peter Krause and Hope Davis-and The Rockford Files, featuring David Boreanaz as a wrongfully convicted private investigator, are also on the horizon.

Vin Diesel announced four Fast & Furious spinoff series will air on NBC, and USA Network will premiere Anna Pigeon, based on the bestselling novels, on August 7. Meanwhile, TODAY host Savannah Guthrie will lead a new game show, Wordle, coming soon to the network.

To cap off the centennial celebrations, NBC will air a live special on December 10, 2026, marking 100 years of broadcasting history. The network’s refreshed lineup underscores its commitment to innovation and diversity as it enters its next century on air.
