A new survey from a personal injury law group identifies the I-77 Exit 5 to Tyvola Road in Charlotte as the second most stressful off ramp in the state.
The Regan Zambri Law group recently shared an interactive map of the most anxiety-inducing ramps in the country.
The law group surveyed more than 3,000 drivers to identify the most stressful off ramps in America. The group was surveyed in April 2026, and asked to choose from a selected list of frequently used exits and junctions. The group chose to survey instead of compiling data on crash rates to measure the experience of drivers, according to the report.

The report highlighted these four North Carolina roads:
- I-40 Exit 289 to Wade Avenue, Raleigh
- I-77 Exit 5 to Tyvola Road, Charlotte
- I-85 Exit 126 to US-421, Greensboro
- I-26 Exit 50 to Hendersonville Road, Asheville
“Traffic along this stretch of I-77 often tightens as drivers prepare to enter one of Charlotte’s busiest corridors. Vehicles leaving the interstate encounter signals positioned close to the end of the ramp and steady turning traffic,” the report says…
