Corpus Christi ISD responds to Attorney General investigation over Ten Commandments display

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Corpus Christi Independent School District is among several Texas school districts under investigation by Attorney General Ken Paxton over compliance with new state laws requiring the display of the Ten Commandments in public school classrooms.

The statewide probe centers on two pieces of legislation. The first, Senate Bill 10, requires public schools to display the Ten Commandments in every classroom. The second, Senate Bill 11, requires school boards to hold a vote on whether to allow time for prayer or religious readings during the school day.

Corpus Christi ISD issued a brief statement in response, saying in part the district “is in compliance with SB 10 and SB 11,” and adding it would “respectfully decline to comment on the announcement.”…
