35 Johnston-Hopkins Elementary students graduated from the Junior Police Officer Academy program Friday with a ceremony held at the school’s cafeteria.
The academy is put on along with the New Iberia Police Department with the aim of deepening connections between students and law enforcement in New Iberia. Principal Ashley Lewis welcomed parents and students to the ceremony, with each student receiving a plaque of recognition for their achievement in completing the program.
