North St. Louis libraries reopen after tornado damage

ST. LOUIS – After months of repairs, two north St. Louis library branches hit by last year’s tornado will reopen next week. The Cabanne Library on Union Boulevard and the Julia Davis Library on Natural Bridge have been closed since last May, when the storm caused heavy damage to both buildings. Now, both locations are ready to serve the community again.

St. Louis Public Library officials say both branches will reopen next Monday, restoring critical resources to neighborhoods that have been without them for nearly a year. Volunteers helped push the work across the finish line. Crews from Spire were at the Julia Davis branch last week, working on final touches to get the building ready.

Each location will also have its own grand reopening celebration. Cabanne Library will be celebrated May 18, followed by Julia Davis Library on May 21.
