St. Paul’s Downtowner restaurant closing Sunday after 38-year run

Downtowner Woodfire Grill is closing down after 38 years serving customers on St. Paul’s West 7th Street.

The cozy breakfast, lunch and dinner spot, known for its oak-fired grill and expansive food and wine menu, will close permanently Sunday, May 17 as owner Moe Sharif retires.

“Moe would like to extend his deepest gratitude to the city of St. Paul, our amazing staff, and our loyal customers for making this journey so special,” the Sharif family shared Monday. “The Downtowner has been a true icon in this city – a one-of-a-kind gem that will be deeply missed.”
