SLMPD Board of Commissioners asks for expedited ruling on budget dispute with St. Louis City

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – The St. Louis Police Board of Commissioners is asking for an expedited legal ruling in its dispute with city hall over the police budget.

The department made a legal filing on Monday. St. Louis City is suing the governor’s hand-picked Board of Police Commissioners. The city claims that the state’s control of the police department and its budget is an unfunded mandate. The commission claims it is entitled to tens of millions of dollars more than the city has allotted it.
